As a long standing resident of Las Vegas I am familiar with the unique population and diversity within the community. While raising my family in Las Vegas over 40 years, I have been involved with community organizations and service work. Personal experiences have brought me close to the health care arena. I recognize that there are many people who could use extra support and care during illness, surgery, and life events.

Life has taught me that true happiness comes from serving others which has carried over to my professional career. I find joy in helping and caring for others. This compassion and understanding has led me to a degree in Psychology from Southern Utah University and continued education as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Outside of work, when I’m not busy raising children (a mother of four and an aunt to 23) you can find me in a heated battle on the pickle ball court.

Grief-Stricken Receive Emotional First Aid

Lynda Gallagher was there as a sobbing woman cradled her dead husband and told him how much she loved him, how much she would miss him. She was there when the parents of a teen who died of a drug overdose first tried to deal with their shattered dreams, the promise of what might have been. She also was there recently when a grieving Nevada State College student tried to make sense of the fact that her young roommate died in her sleep.
“No one should be alone when tragedy strikes,” said Gallagher, 50, a volunteer with the Trauma Intervention Program of Southern Nevada, better known as TIP. “I guess you might call what we do emotional first aid. Often, you just listen. Other times you help them talk out their feelings. We’re really comforting people, not counseling them.” Often, she cries along with those she’s comforting. “It is part of being human,” Gallagher said.
